Welcome on board!
Well, if you haven’t traveled on a train you haven’t experienced anything…and not just any train. Trains which epitomize the luxury travel experience and add a different dimension to the memories and images you collect from a place.
Today, I have composed a list with the world’s most luxurious trains…and I’m sure at the end of this article you’ll be longing for a luxury ride in one of them.
SOUTH AMERICA’S FIRST LUXURY SLEEPER TRAIN
Let’s kick off this list one of the most recent and definitely most luxurious trains that opened just in May 2017, the Belmond Andean Explorer.
It is a train like no other, extending expectation. It operates along one of the world’s highest rail routes in the Peruvian Andes. Looking out the window of your luxurious suite cabin you will see some of the most breath-taking scenery in the world. From Cusco, the ancient capital of the Inca Empire—traversing the highest plains of the Andes—to the reflective beauty of Lake Titicaca. It is a splendid opportunity to explore the vast Colca Canyon then continue towards the city centre of Arequipa, a UNESCO World Heritage site (or in reverse), whilst travelling through some of the most awe inspiring scenery in the world.
There is capacity for 48 guests in a range of en-suite cabins including 2 Deluxe Double Bed Cabins, 6 Junior Double Bed Cabins, 11 Twin Bed Cabins and 5 Bunk Bed Cabins. There are two dining cars, a lounge car and an observation car with an open-air deck for scenic viewing. Plus, for those times of the day you just want to relax, the train is complete with a SPA car…
Interior designs, by Inge Moore of The Gallery HBA, are inspired by the texture of Peru’s hand-woven fabrics and the soft tones of the Alpaca wool blended with Andean slate greys, creating a sense of calm thus enabling guests to unwind, relax and enjoy the journey.
THIS IS THE LEGEND OF LUXURY TRAINS
The Venice Simplon Orient Express is famous for being one of Europe’s historic trains around the world it oozes old glamour and has a charming 1920s aura that will make you feel like a character on Agatha Christie’s “Murder on the Orient Express”. It runs on a six day long journey traversing some of the most iconic cities such as London, Paris, Innsbruck, Verona and Venice with stops in Budapest and Bucharest. The Art Deco décor, amenities and glamour of the train create a complete vintage luxury experience. The excellent cuisine and impeccable service will make your time a tad more unforgettable… The restaurant car is French Cuisine featuring atmospheric piano nights. The train became famous from the Agatha Christie Novel, and the train also serves as the benchmark for other luxurious trains around the world.
Special treat: Freshly caught lobsters are served to a delicious brunch before the train reaches the French port of Calais — only available on the rout from Italy to London.
