There will come a day when these types of articles are not necessary, because all the destinations in the world will embrace all travelers with the same enthusiasm. But, until that moment arrives (hopefully very soon) we have prepared a guide with the most vibrant and gay friendly places on the planet. Many will surprise you!
Miami Beach (United States)
“South Beach – or SoBe, as the locals call it – is where the party is, and with the world’s greatest concentration of beautiful people and sunny beaches, what a party it is, they warn us in Gay Cities”. Infinity of shopping options and the possibility of meeting celebrities here and there finish their charm.
Reassured to know that “The city of love” is for everyone equally. That is why it has many gay-friendly lodgings and a whole neighborhood, the beautiful Le Marais.
The famous gay beach of Patong, the many clubs and lodgings dedicated to the collective and a great Pride Festival -whose funds are fully raised for this cause, as well as for the eradication of HIV- are the clearest reasons that the paradisiacal Phuket be on our list. Nothing strange if we take into account that Thailand has been a traditionally open country with the gay community.
The always photogenic Ibiza has already demonstrated what its days (and above all, its nights) could give in this spot presented last year at Fitur Gay (yes, the popular travel fair has its own area!) But what else but fun for all and all we would expect from the place where the hippie movement was created in Spain?
Prague (Czech Republic)
Prague is becoming one of the most energetic gay destinations in the world, especially since it approved same-sex marriage in around 2011. The opening of gay friendly establishments is growing at a fast pace, and almost all are concentrated around Vinohrady and Zizkov, neighborhoods near the center of this accessible city and full of historical beauty.
Amsterdam (The Netherlands)
“Nowhere in the world will you find more gay attractions per square meter than in Amsterdam,” they say from their Tourism website. The cause? The relaxed and tolerant lifestyle of its inhabitants … and its fascinating history as the cradle of gay rights. We only give you one piece of information: in 1811! they decriminalized homosexuality.
California, (United States)
California was one of the North American States that previously legalized homosexual marriage (in 2008). It has the largest offer of accommodation for same-sex couples in the world and many events dedicated to this group, such as wedding fairs. Go Gay, California!
Tel Aviv (Israel)
Tel Aviv! What did not you expect? Or maybe yes, because in 2012 it was declared “Best Gay Destination” in a global survey conducted by GayCities and American Airlines. The blame was especially his Tel Aviv Gay Vibe campaign, consisting of fun ads like this and discounts on travel. Now, already established, it continues to offer many gay attractions.
Rio de Janeiro (Brazil)
The Carnival of Rio, which defies any moralistic rule, laughs at everything and floods the streets with joy, marking the tone of this exciting city throughout the year. The rest? Wild party, baths on golden beaches and carioca hospitality.
Mykonos (what a nice song with that name!) Is another traditionally gay destination thanks to that Greek light that does not need to pull on Instagram filters and some open and warm inhabitants. They do not even need to put the gay friendly sign: the whole island is, say no more.
Puerto Vallarta (Mexico)
The most gay friendly place in Mexico is a full-fledged tropical paradise, with its postcard beaches – one of them, gay – its green rainforest … and its large community of gay travelers from all over the world! What we tell you is little: plan your trip to Eden here.
San Francisco (United States)
Not knowing that San Francisco is one of the most beloved gay capitals in the world.
The gay capital of the Southern Hemisphere greets you from Oxford Street, its hot spot. This is where Australia becomes friendlier for gay visitors, and also where, during its famous Mardi Gras Gay, more than 10,000 people gather to enjoy hours and hours of crazy party.
