Le Domaine de L’Orangeraie: if heaven is a place on Earth it’s here. By Judith Heede.
Crystal clear, warm waters, white sandy beaches and ancient picturesque granite boulders – welcome to the Seychelles! The archipelago in the Indian Ocean is one of the most desired travel destinations in the world and with its 115 Islands you can be sure you’ll never notice: on most of the fairy-tale looking beaches you won’t see a soul!
The most spectacular ones you’ll find on La Digue, one of the three main islands where it seems that time has stopped a century ago: ox carts and bicycles are the vessels of choice here and stress is an unknown expressions for the local people.
To capture this relaxed and exotic vibe the local owners of Le Domaine de L’Orangeraie had decided a decade ago to build a Boutique Hotel that is melting with its environment. The wooden Villas were built in the middle of the rain forest overlooking the blue lagoon, only surrounded by large coconut trees and massive granite rocks.
To keep most of the nature unharmed the Villas were all built on stilts in the hills; don’t be surprised to find some granite rocks reaching right through your outdoor bathroom! With lots of love and attention for details the Seychellois family has decorated the luxurious Villas in a calming Zen-Style with natural materials.
A Spa soars high above the property with a view on the most colorful sunsets and open treatment rooms in which all you can hear is the sound of the waves and tropical bird’s singing. To open your eyes after and come back to reality never felt as difficult before…
