Hotel Review: Taj Lake Palace in Udaipur by Carmen Caballero
Month Visited: January 2018
Type of visit: Couples
Length of stay: 2 nights
Check-in and first impressions:
Since the moment we reached the pier, all the staff greeted us and knew that we were arriving. The boat was waiting for us to take us to the hotel. The asked us for our passports, we went through a security check and off we went! The suitcases were ready in the boat. The pier is very nice and elegant, decorated in marble and with a lovely and direct view to the property. Once we arrived to the hotel, we were escorted to the entrance with an umbrella and a rain of petals. At the reception, everybody knew our names and our room was ready. Suitcases had already arrived without realising.
Room type and first impressions– size, views, wardrobe, decor, welcome amenities… :
We had the Peacock Suite which was a stunning 1-bedroom suite overlooking the lake. We had a hall entrance and marble stairs up to another floor where the bedroom and the bathroom were. The bedroom area had a lovely and colourful sitting area, the bed was very big and comfortable. Specially loved all the peacock motifs around the suite and all the colours. We had a bottle of champagne as a welcome to the suite and some fruits.
Our peakock suite:
A different Royal Suite we loved during my site inspection:
Bathroom and amenities:
Bathroom was made of marble, had 2 sinks, a jacuzzi overlooking the lake and a big marble shower with glass doors. Amenities were great.
Very fast throughout the property.
Very elegant heated pool even to use in the winters. Direct views to the City Palace.
There was a lot of variety and multi-cultural breakfast. The buffet and a la carte menu is great. I really recommend the waffles, eggs benedict and pancakes.
In the middle of Lake Pichola in Udaipur with direct views to the City Palace. A real experience at the kings summer palace.
What I love the most:
How authentic and unique the hotel is. How welcoming are the staff. How great all the food is. I recommend the Indian restaurant at the hotel which opens at night. The chicken curry is to die for!!! There are plenty of activities for hotel guests such as a massage in a boat, sunset cruise around the lake, hand reading, romantic dinners in the lily pond area, every afternoon hotel offers guests an indian dance show, the hotel is very private and only welcomes hotel guests, no other tourists can visit the hotel. I think its the best hotel in Udaipur by far.
Disclosure: I was a guest of this hotel and even though the hotel may have offered complimentary services, my reviews will never be swayed one way or the other. Hope you trust you have received complete truth in each review.
