Hotel Review: Gili Lankanfushi Maldives by Carmen Caballero
Month Visited: June 2018
Type of visit: Couples
Length of stay: 3 nights
Check-in and first impressions:
We arrived at Male Airport and the staff from Gili Lankanfushi were already waiting for us, and took care of our luggage. We were escorted to the boat and we were offered a welcome drink and took our shoes off- barefoot philosophy at the hotel! When we arrived to the hotel jetty, we were received by the General Manager of the hotel and introduced to our Mr Friday, which would be our butler for the next 4 days. He drove us in a golf car to our stunning villa suite. First impression 10/10. We were checked in our villa, there is no reception at the hotel. Our luggage and shoes were already inside.
Room type and first impressions– size, views, wardrobe, decor, welcome amenities… :
Our Villa Suite was located in the “oasis” part of the hotel, which we really loved because the water was very calm and the tide was not high, I personally prefer this! The entire villa was open-air except the bedroom part which had AC. The bathroom with double sinks was very big, with outdoor shower, a very nice bathtub and plenty of storage space for clothes. The living area- solarium were very spacious and open air too. We had Bose speakers throughout the villa and an Ipod with some playlists which was great since we spent a lot of time here.
Bathroom and amenities:
The think I loved the most about the bathroom was how spacious it was!!! And the outdoor shower was very cool. Since the hotel is eco-friendly and they try to avoid using plastic the amenities were in ceramic flasks, they were always very clean and full. We loved to have Aloe Vera, aftersun lotion, aftersun shampoo and conditioner, that was nice.
It was very easy to join and worked very well throughout the property.
We really LOVED the pool area. The location and beach area by the pool was fabulous and the attention at the pool was very efficient. Immediately after we arrived we were offered drinks, and brought water with lemon and sunscreen, we loved spending time here.
It was really really good. We loved breakfast at the hotel was by the sea, we always got the first row. The food was delicious, banana pacakes and the waffles were amazing. Also the eggs benedict. There were plenty of choices, we loved the fruit juices too and the fresh cuts area located in the winery were they served cheese and handmade chocolates.
The hotel is located a 20 minute speedboat ride from Male Airport. It is vey easy to arrive and the island is very big and is surrounded entirely by white sand beach. You can see in the surroundings there are more islands with other hotels/villages, but the hotel is so perfect that you even forget.
We had dinner the 3 nights, at the Plein Air restaurant. We really enjoyed being by the beach, close to the water and the food was always delicious. Specially recommend the Mediterranean Buffet, as I said in previous reviews I am not a fan of buffet’s but this one was really amazing and the set-up was very nice.
Its a very nice area for beach walks, relax, snorkel, sunbathing… We didn’t really do many activities because really enjoyed our villa and snorkeling around and biking around the hotel which was beautiful. I was surprised how big the island was.
What I love the most:
I loved the villa suite, the pool area and breakfast at the hotel. I was able to appreciate that our villa was located in a calm part of the island, the Crusoe Villas and other villas were located in areas were there were more waves and currents, so that is another thing . I loved, facing what the called the “oasis” part of the island.
Disclosure: I was a guest of this hotel and even though the hotel may have offered complimentary services, my reviews will never be swayed one way or the other. Hope you trust you have received complete truth in each review.
