Hotel Review: Belmond Governor’s Residence, Yangon by Carmen Caballero
Month Visited: April 2018
Type of visit: Couples
Length of stay: 3 nights
Check-in and first impressions:
Located in a quiet street, which we thought would be best since Yangon is a city with a lot of traffic. They already knew we were checking in at that time and prepared for us some welcome drinks and guest preference form. We loved the signature of banging the gong each time a guest arrives.
Room type and first impressions– size, views, wardrobe, decor, welcome amenities… :
We had the Deluxe Room which was really nice, we arrived nearly at night so we couldn’t really see how much light our room had until we woke up next day with a gorgeous view of the pool area. We loved our welcome amenities: Rose wine, fruits, cookies and a muffin. The bed was super comfy and we loved the authenticity of the decoration.
Bathroom and amenities:
Bathroom was fine, with 2 sinks, shower was nice and big. Amenities were Belmond and they were also ok.
Very fast throughout the property and easy to connect.
24 hour pool area although don’t recommend to stay at night because mosquitos will eat you up. During the day, the pool area is really amazing and there is permanently someone checking on you. They offer sunscreen and even sunglasses. The balinese beds by the pool were lovely, in the shadow and very quiet. The pool was super clean all day.
There was a lot of variety and multi-cultural breakfast. The buffet and a la carte menu is great. I really recommend the pancakes, eggs Benedict, truffle cheese toast.
Located in the embassy area of a busy city, loved going for a run in the mornings.
What I love the most:
The authenticity throughout the hotel, how welcoming the staff are, the location and the home away from home feeling. The food was really amazing, in breakfast, lunch and dinner. Im a hotel person and love hotel life so we spent here a lot of time. We had the pleasure to meet the General Manager of the hotel, Win Win and Chef Karl Reyes our last night, who prepared a special dinner menu which will be offered soon at the hotel. It was really really amazing.
Disclosure: I was a guest of this hotel and even though the hotel may have offered complimentary services, my reviews will never be swayed one way or the other. Hope you trust you have received complete truth in each review.
