‘Forbes’ highlighted 14 Spanish establishments in its list of luxury hotels and restaurants.
Forbes magazine published the annual ranking of the best luxury establishments worldwide, including 14 hotels, restaurants and spas in Spain, all located in Barcelona or Madrid. Of the 14 Spanish shops included in the list, one with the highest classification, the five star: the Mandarin Oriental hotel, in Barcelona.
The Mandarin Oriental won this game, because its spa was very highly recommended , thus becoming the main center of luxury accommodation and recreation in the country. The hotel is located in Paseo de Gracia, opened its doors in 2009 and, in addition to its 98 rooms, has five restaurants and bars, of which Moments boasts two Michelin stars.
The city also obtained four-star classifications in four more establishments: Cotton House Hotel, Hotel Casa Fuster, El Palace Barcelona and Hotel Arts Barcelona. In addition, on the “recommended” scale of Forbes, mentions were given to three other businesses in Barcelona: The Palauet Living Barcelona, Gran Hotel La Florida and Majestic Hotel & Spa.
The five remaining decorations in the section of Spain correspond to Madrid. The Gran Meliá Fénix hotel earned a four-star qualification, while the Orfila Hotel, the Santo Mauro Autograph Collection Hotel, Villa Magna and The Westin Palace Madrid were recommended by Forbes.
Outside of Spain, the cities with the most five-star hotels are China Macau (12), Paris (10) and New York (10). Macao also has the highest number of five-star restaurants (12), above Hong Kong (9).
